This event presents golfers around the world with the opportunity to see the world's best professionals compete on this classic stage, and to play two of the nation's finest public courses themselves: Pasatiempo Golf Club and Spyglass Hill.

Flight information: Pebble Beach is approximately 90 minutes from San Jose International Airport (SJC), connections are available from most major U.S. cities. As an alternative, you may fly into San Francisco International Airport (SFO) or Oakland International (OAK). These airports are approximately two hours from Pebble Beach, and give golfers the chance to drive down the coast on spectacular Route 1 past Pasatiempo all the way to Pebble Beach.
A small airport in Monterey, CA offers limited flights from a few U.S. cities. http://www.montereyairport.com/
Where to stay?
Pebble Beach resort itself is completely sold out during the open, so you'll have to find a hotel outside the Pebble Beach complex. There will be no parking at Pebble itself -- all ticket holders will have to go to Ford Ord and take a shuttle to the course. So in choosing a hotel, pick a location convenient to Ford Ord. Check online for hotels in Monterey, Carmel or Seaside (all within 10 minutes from Fort Ord), or Santa Cruz (30-40 minutes from Fort Ord).

If you're coming out to watch the U.S. Open, why not take some time out to play some great golf as well? Here's the lowdown on where to play when youre in the area:
Spyglass Hill: Ranked #9 in Golf Magazines Greatest 100 Public Courses list, and #48 on its Top 100 Courses in the country list, Spyglass Hill is a Robert Trent Jones Sr. classic that lies between Cypress Point and Pebble Beach. The tour pros who play this course during the AT&T cite it as one of the toughest courses they play, and you'll love the holes that roll along the seaside dunes and through towering pines. If you aren't staying on the Pebble Beach resort, you'll have to make your tee time 30 days in advance. The course is conveniently located just minutes from Pebble Beach golf course.

Pasatiempo Golf Club: Ranked #11 in Golf Magazines Greatest 100 Public Courses list and #55 on its Top 100 Courses in the Country list, Pasatiempo was the home course for famed architect Alistair MacKenzie. You've heard about MacKenzies other courses -- Augusta National, Cypress Point, Royal Melbourne, to name a few -- but Pasatiempo was his favorite course. This semi-private course opened in 1929, and it offers limited public times. The club is accepting reservations now for the 2010 Open week. The course is just 30-40 minutes from Fort Ord, an hour from Pebble Beach and is located conveniently just off of Hwy 17 and 1. Pasatiempo is 30 minutes from San Jose airport or an hour from San Francisco airport, and right on the way to Pebble Beach.
If you're playing at Pasatiempo, you can make the nearby Scotts Valley Hilton your headquarters for the U.S. Open. Take the Hilton shuttle to and from the Fort Ord parking lot, just 30-40 minutes away, or the shuttle can take you back and forth to nearly Pasatiempo for golf. Either way, it's an easy and convenient way to play golf and see the Open in 2010.

Links at Spanish Bay: An ocean side classic, this Robert Trent Jones Jr./Tom Watson/Sandy Tatum design features spectacular ocean views and great links style golf. It's part of the Pebble Beach resort, and always ranked among the top public courses in the country.

Blackhorse and Bayonet: This 36-hole layout was originally a set of military golf courses, sold to the City of Seaside in 1997 as part of the closure of Fort Ord. The courses recently underwent extensive renovations, and they are both long, tough championship courses. These courses are convenient to the Fort Ord parking lot, great for golfers who want to play good golf and watch the Open all on the same day.

Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Links: Not your typical municipal course, Pacific Grove features great views of the Pacific Ocean and the areas natural sand dunes. Originally designed by Chandler Egan in 1932, the first nine holes takes you through the forested areas of Pacific Grove. The back nine is a gem, designed by Jack Neville, original designer of the Pebble Beach Golf Links. Ranked by Golf Magazine as one of the nation's Top 50 courses under $50 (nonresidents pay just $45 on weekends for 18 holes).

The course is a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design that is ranked among the Top 100 public courses in the country.
