The Pasatiempo Historical Foundation is proud to present the Founder’s Legacy Project honoring Alister MacKenzie and Marion Hollins. This lasting tribute celebrates and commemorates the profound impact of these two remarkable individuals in the history of Pasatiempo.
Alister MacKenzie and Marion Hollins were trailblazers in their respective fields, leaving an indelible mark on history. Alister MacKenzie’s innovative approach to golf course design, emphasizing strategy and natural beauty, has set the gold standard for the industry. Many of his golf course designs including Pasatiempo are in the top 100 golf courses in the USA. Marion Hollins was a visionary golf course developer, golfing champion, and businesswoman. Her contributions to golf course architecture, including Pasatiempo along with the renowned Cypress Point Club, and her unwavering determination, continue to inspire golf enthusiasts and aspiring female athletes.
Both Marion and Alister have been inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame, but this is not enough. The creation of life-sized bronze statues will serve as a tribute to these visionaries, honoring their contributions to the world of golf and beyond. It will provide a West Coast opportunity for people to learn about and be inspired by their stories, achievements, and the enduring impact they had on the world.
These statues will ensure the legacies of Alister and Marion are not forgotten, promoting a deep sense of pride and belonging among the golfing community and the broader public. Their work continues to be celebrated, studied, and admired, and these statues will further cement their places in history.
